Tour of Ireland 20: Nope; we are not alone

Torsten Pamp moves along the Irish coast southwest from Ballyliffin. He stops at Rosses Point, where he in this chapter of The Tour of Ireland Project gets the chance to play the challenging Co Sligo Golf Club.

Tour_of_IrelandCo Sligo at Rosses Point is the last great links destination before we arrive at the west coast. On a small promontory just outside town, Rosses Point invites us for a tough challenge. Sandwiched as a watershed and with Ireland’s response to Table Mountain as a backdrop, the holes vary from short tee-offs from the dunes over water against almost island greens to long drives along the waterline on narrow fairways.

For the first time in a week we realize that more poeple than ourselves want to play. The tee times are fully booked, with two slots available in one group. As it turned out, they were two fellow Swedes on a two week golf trip.

The views are stunning from Co Sligo Golf Club with breath taking sceneries from the ocean to the mountains.

The wind is always a factor at Rosses Point. Even more so on the greens close to the sea, like here on hole 12 at the far end of the course.
