Tour of Ireland 11: The mixture of the druids

Torsten Pamp’s Tour of Ireland Project is exploring the Dublin Area. This time, he takes us south to Wicklow and Druids Glen Resort.

Tour_of_IrelandPat Ruddy has left many traces in Ireland. Along with his own course The European, the conservative golfer will probably appreciate his creations Druids Glen, and the newer Druids Heath, half an hour drive south of Dublin the most.

Druids Glen is called The Augusta of Europe, and hosted the Irish Open four years in a row in the late 90s. It’s a classic layout with a fairytale ending.

Druids Heath is a mixture of heath and parkland course with some links feel to it. The front nine offer views of the Irish Sea from the hills above the valley, while the back nine are within the Wicklow Mountains. To play here is to play golf as nature has created it. It’s incredibly beautiful and challenging.

Druids Heath offer some beautiful views over The Irish Sea to the East and the Wicklow Mountains to the West.

Otroligt vackert och utmanande.
